The project is currently owned by Ceylon Electricity Board with a stake of 100%.
Old Laxapana is a reservoir based project. Old Laxapana underwent through rehabilitation & modernization during 2011-2013. The project generated 271.476 GWh of electricity.
The hydro power project consists of 2 turbines, each with 12.5MW nameplate capacity.

The project got commissioned in 1950.
Contractors Involved
Andritz Hydro was selected as the turbine supplier for the hydro power project. The company provided 3 units of pelton turbines, each with 8.33MW nameplate capacity.
The electric generators for the project were procured from Andritz Hydro and Westinghouse Electric.
