Gas was the top category in thermal technology in terms of number of contracts for the month, accounting for 18 contracts and an 81.8% share, followed by Oil with two contracts and a 9.1% share. Coal stood in third place with two contracts and a 9.1% share.

Looking at global power contracts activity divided by the type of technology, thermal held the third position in terms of number of contracts during February 2020 with an 11.1% share.

The proportion of contracts by category in the Thermal technology tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: eight contracts and a 36.4% share
  2. Project Implementation: six contracts and a 27.3% share
  3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: four contracts and an 18.2% share
  4. Power Purchase Agreement: three contracts and a 13.6% share
  5. Consulting & Similar Services: one contract and a 4.5% share.

Asia-Pacific leads thermal contracts activity in February 2020

Comparing contracts activity in thermal technology in different regions of the globe, Asia-Pacific held the top position with six contracts and a share of 27.3% during February 2020, followed by Europe with six contracts and a 27.3% share and Middle East and Africa with six contracts and a 27.3% share.

In fourth place was South and Central America with four contracts and an 18.2% share.
