Onshore was the top category in wind technology in terms of number of contracts for the month, accounting for 33 contracts and a 71.7% share, followed by Offshore with 13 contracts and a 28.3% share.

Looking at global power contracts activity divided by the type of technology, wind held the second position in terms of number of contracts during February 2020 with a 23.1% share.

The proportion of contracts by category in the Wind technology tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 16 contracts and a 34.8% share
  2. Power Purchase Agreement: 15 contracts and a 32.6% share
  3. Project Implementation: nine contracts and a 19.6% share
  4. Consulting & Similar Services: four contracts and an 8.7% share
  5. Electricity Supply: one contract and a 2.2% share
  6. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: one contract and a 2.2% share.

Europe leads wind contracts activity in February 2020

Comparing contracts activity in wind technology in different regions of the globe, Europe held the top position with 19 contracts and a share of 41.3% during February 2020, followed by Asia-Pacific with ten contracts and a 21.7% share and North America with eight contracts and a 17.4% share.

In fourth place was South and Central America with seven contracts and a 15.2% share and in fifth place was Middle East and Africa with two contracts and a 4.3% share.

The top issuers of contracts in Wind technology for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution (India): 440.64MW from one contract
  2. Tohoku Electric Power (Japan): 140MW from one contract
  3. Saint-Gobain North America (United States): 120MW capacity from one contract.

The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. Solar Energy Corporation of India (India): 440.64MW from one contract
  2. Nordex (Germany): 156MW from one contract
  3. Akita Offshore Wind Farm (Japan): 140MW capacity from one contract.
