The project is developed and owned by Fotowatio Renewable Ventures.
Fotowatio Al Mafraq Solar PV Park is a ground-mounted solar project which is spread over an area of 145 hectares.
The project generates 145,000MWh electricity and supplies enough clean energy to power 40,000 households, offsetting 80,000t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year. The project cost is $234.192m.
Development status
The project construction commenced in 2017 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in 2017.
Power purchase agreement
The power generated from the project is sold to National Electric Power under a power purchase agreement. The power is sold at the rate of $0.069kWh for a period of 20 years. The contracted capacity is 50MW.
Contractors involved
Obrascon Huarte Lain was selected to render engineering procurement construction services for the solar PV power project.
JA Solar Holdings was selected as the supplier of the PV modules for the project. The company supplied modules with rated capacity of 325W.
The inverters were procured from ABB for the project.
