The company controls majority of the electricity infrastructure in Lebanon. EDL generates electricity from thermal and hydraulic power plants. It operates several thermal power plants, including Zouk, Jieh, Sour, Baalback, Zahrani, Deir-Ammar, and Al Hreesha. It procures electricity generated by Litani River Authority (LRA) and other hydroelectric power plants, Nahr Ibrahim and Al Bared. The company also imports electricity from Egypt and Syria. It also provides electricity to distribution concessions in Zahle, Jbeil, and Bhamdoun. Its operations are monitored by Ministry of Energy and Water (MOEW). EDL is headquartered in Beirut, Lebanon.
