Description

The project is being developed by Mekong Wind Power. Gulf International Holding and Thanh Thanh Cong Group are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 95% and 5% respectively. The turbines will be mounted on fixed monopile foundations and will be interconnected by 35kV inter-array cable.

Development status

The project construction is expected to commence from 2020. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by 2024.

Power purchase agreement

The power generated from the Mekong Wind Farm (Mekong Wind Farm Phase I) will be sold to Vietnam Electricity under a power purchase agreement. The power will be sold at the rate of $0.098kWh for a period of 20 years. The capacity to be procured is 30MW.

The power generated from the Mekong Wind Farm (Mekong Wind Farm Phase II) will be sold to Vietnam Electricity under a power purchase agreement.

The power generated from the Mekong Wind Farm (Mekong Wind Farm Phase III) will be sold to Vietnam Electricity under a power purchase agreement.

Contractors involved

Power China Huadong Engineering and Powerchina International Group are expected to render engineering procurement construction services for the wind power project.

Mekong Wind Farm (Mekong Wind Farm Phase I) will be equipped with Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy turbines. The phase consists 7 turbines.

Mekong Wind Farm (Mekong Wind Farm Phase II) will be equipped with Goldwind Science & Technology turbines. The phase consists 24 turbines.

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy is expected to perform operations and maintenance for the Mekong Wind Farm (Mekong Wind Farm Phase I) for a period of 10 years.
