Description
The project is being developed by Upper Padas Power Sdn. Gamuda, Sabah Electricity Sdn and Kerjaya Kagum Hitech JV Sdn are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 45%, 40% and 15% respectively.
The hydro reservoir capacity is planned to be 275 million cubic meter. The total number of penstocks, pipes or long channels that carry water down from the hydroelectric reservoir to the turbines inside the actual power station, is expected to be 1 in number. The penstock length will be 920m. The penstock diameter will be 5m.
The nameplate capacity of electric generator(s) to be installed at the Upper Padas (Upper Padas I) site is 65 MVA.
Development status
The project construction is expected to commence from 2025. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by 2030.
Power purchase agreement
The power generated from the project will be sold to Sabah Electricity Sdn under a power purchase agreement for a period of 40 years.
