The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 133 contracts and an 85.3% share
  2. Consulting & Similar Services: 17 contracts and a 10.9% share
  3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: five contracts and a 3.2% share
  4. Power Purchase Agreement: one contract and a 0.6% share.

Europe leads power plant activity in August 2020

Comparing contracts activity in power plant segment in different regions of the globe, Europe held the top position with 109 contracts and a share of 69.9% during August 2020, followed by Asia-Pacific with 31 contracts and a 19.9% share and North America with eight contracts and a 5.1% share.

Solar is leading technology for power plant contracts in August 2020

Among the technologies, solar accounted for 95 contracts with a 60.9% share, followed by wind with 37 contracts and a 23.7% share and thermal with 11 contracts and a 7.1% share.

The top issuers of power plant contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (Afghanistan): 3,000MW from one contract
  2. Department of Communications, Climate Action and Environment (Ireland): 1,275.54MW from 82 contracts
  3. NTPC (India): 1,170MW capacity from four contracts.

The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. Northwest Electric Power Design Institute (China): 4,000MW from two contracts
  2. PAL four Solar Energy L (United Arab Emirates): 3,000MW from one contract
  3. PCL Construction Group (Canada) and Overland Contracting (United States): 900MW capacity from one contract.
