Pulichintala is a 120MW hydro power project. It is located on Krishna river/basin in Telangana, India. The project is currently active. It has been developed in single phase. The project construction commenced in 2015 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in 2016.

Description

The project is developed and owned by Telangana State Power Generation.

Pulichintala is a pumped storage project. The net head of the project is 24m. The total number of penstocks, pipes or long channels that carry water down from the hydroelectric reservoir to the turbines inside the actual power station, are 4 in number. The project generated 220 GWh of electricity. The project cost is $177.382m.

The project construction commenced in 2015 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in 2016.

Contractors Involved

Bharat Heavy Electricals was selected as the turbine supplier for the hydro power project. The company provided 4 units of kaplan turbines, each with 30MW nameplate capacity.

Bharat Heavy Electricals supplied 4 electric generators for the project. The generator capacity is 40 MVA.

Bharat Heavy Electricals is the O&M contractor for the hydro power project.
