It is a Gas Turbine power plant. The power plant run on dual-fuel. The primary fuel being used to power the plant is crude oil. In case of shortage of crude oil the plant can also run on Diesel.
The project got commissioned in 1979.
Power Purchase Agreement
The power generated from the project is sold to Saudi Electricity under a power purchase agreement.
Riyadh PP5 Power Plant (Riyadh PP5 Power Plant Unit I- VIII) is equipped with GE Power 11D4A gas turbines. The phase consists of 8 gas turbines with 50.8MW nameplate capacity.
Riyadh PP5 Power Plant (Riyadh PP5 Power Plant Unit IX-X) is equipped with GE Power 11D4A gas turbines. The phase consists of 2 gas turbines with 50.8MW nameplate capacity.
Riyadh PP5 Power Plant (Riyadh PP5 Power Plant Unit XI-XII) is equipped with GE Power 11D5A gas turbines. The phase consists of 2 gas turbines with 50MW nameplate capacity.
GE Power supplied WY 18L-066LLT electric generator for the project.
