Description

The project was developed by UTC Engenharia and UTC Participacoes. The project is co-owned by China Three Gorges Brasil Energia, EDP - Energias do Brasil and Furnas Centrais Eletricas, with their respective ownership stake of 33.33% each.

Sao Manoel is a run-of-river project. The project generated 3.718 GWh of electricity.

Development status

The project construction commenced in 2014 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in 2017.

Power purchase agreement

The power generated from the project is sold to EDP - Energias do Brasil under a power purchase agreement. The power is sold at the rate of $0.024kWh for a period of 30 years.

Contractors involved

CESBE and GE Renewable Energy were selected to render engineering procurement construction services for the hydro power project.

GE Renewable Energy was selected as the turbine supplier for the hydro power project. The project consists of 4 units of Kaplan turbines, each with 175MW nameplate capacity.

The electric generators for the project were procured from GE Renewable Energy.
