Saundatti is a 1,260MW hydro power project. It is planned in Karnataka, India. The project is currently in permitting stage. It will be developed in single phase. Post completion of the construction, the project is expected to get commissioned in 2022.

Description

The project is being developed and currently owned by Greenko Energies.

Saundatti is a pumped storage project. The hydro reservoir capacity is planned to be 34.346 million cubic meter. The net head of the project will be 149.82m. The total number of penstocks, pipes or long channels that carry water down from the hydroelectric reservoir to the turbines inside the actual power station, is expected to be 6 in number. The penstock length will be 375m. The penstock diameter will be 6m. The project is expected to generate 8.7 GWh of electricity. The project cost is expected to be around $667.359m.

The hydro power project consists of 5 turbines, each with 210MW nameplate capacity.

The hydro power project consists of 2 turbines, each with 105MW nameplate capacity.

The project has 7 electric generators that will be installed at the project site.

Development Status

Post completion of the construction, the project is expected to get commissioned in 2022.
