The project is currently owned by Tokyo Electric Power Co Holdings.
Shiobara is a pumped storage project. The hydro reservoir capacity is 11.9 million cubic meter. The net head of the project is 338m.
The hydro power project consists of 3 turbines, each with 300MW nameplate capacity.

The project got commissioned in 1994.
Contractors Involved
Toshiba Energy Systems and Solutions supplied 3 electric generators for the project. The generator capacity is 360 MVA.
