South Kent Wind Farm is a 270MW onshore wind power project. It is located in Ontario, Canada. The project is currently active. It has been developed in single phase. Post completion of construction, the project got commissioned in March 2014.

Description

The project is developed and owned by Pattern Energy Group and Samsung Renewable Energy. The owners have 50% stake in the project respectively.

The project supplies enough clean energy to power 100,000 households, offsetting 842,000t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year. The project cost is $700m.

Development Status

The project is currently active. The project got commissioned in March 2014.

Power Purchase Agreement

The power generated from the project is sold to Independent Electricity System Operator under a power purchase agreement for a period of 20 years from 2014. The contracted capacity is 270MW.

Contractors Involved

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy was selected as the turbine supplier for the wind power project. The company provided 124 units of SWT-2.3-101 turbines.

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy is the O&M contractor for the wind power project for a period of 3 years.

CS Wind Canada has supplied towers for the wind power project.
