Subiya Emergency Power Plant, Kuwait

Subiya Emergency Power Plant is a 300MW gas fired power project. It is located in Al Jahra, Kuwait. The project is currently active. It has been developed in single phase. Post completion of construction, the project got commissioned in September 2008.

The project was developed by HPI and is currently owned by Ministry of Electricity and Water, Kuwait with a stake of 100%.

It is a Gas Turbine power plant that is used for Reserve. The power plant run on dual-fuel. The primary fuel being used to power the plant is natural gas. In case of shortage of natural gas the plant can also run on Gas Oil.

Development Status

The project got commissioned in September 2008.

Contractors Involved

HPI and S&W Energy Solutions were selected to render EPC services for the gas fired power project.

GE Power was selected as the turbine supplier for the Gas fired project. The company provided 6 units of LM6000 gas turbines, each with 50MW nameplate capacity.

GE Power supplied electric generator for the project.
