Tekeze II, Ethiopia

Tekeze II is a 450MW hydro power project. It is planned on Tekeze river/basin in Ethiopia. The project is currently in announced stage. It will be developed in single phase. The project construction is likely to commence in 2024 and is expected to enter into commercial operation in 2027.

Description

The project is being developed and currently owned by Ethiopian Electric Power.

The project is expected to generate 2,768 GWh of electricity. The project cost is expected to be around $1,690.4m.

The hydro power project consists of 4 turbines.

Development Status

The project construction is expected to commence from 2024. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by 2027.
