Upington I Substation is a 400/132kV substation located in Upington, Northern Cape, South Africa. The construction works on Upington I Substation began in 2018. The project was commissioned in 2019.

Description

The Upington I Substation project is a new substation being operated by Eskom Holdings SOC.

The designed voltage level of the project is 400/132kV, while the operating voltage level is 400/132kV. The step-in voltage of the substation is 400kV and the step-out voltage is 132kV. The substation capacity is 500MVA.

Upington I Substation has received approval from National Energy Regulator of South Africa to undertake the works on the project.
