Upper Siang is a 9,750MW hydro power project. It is planned on Siang river/basin in Arunachal Pradesh, India. The project is currently in permitting stage. It will be developed in multiple phases. The project construction is likely to commence in 2025 and is expected to enter into commercial operation in 2029.

Description
The project is being developed by NHPC and North Eastern Electric Power . NHPC, North Eastern Electric Power and Government of Arunachal Pradesh are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 37%, 37% and 26% respectively.
The hydro reservoir capacity is planned to be 10,000 million cubic meter.
Upper Siang (Upper Siang Stage I) consists of 16 units of francis turbines with 375MW nameplate capacity.
Upper Siang (Upper Siang Stage II) consists of 15 units of francis turbines with 250MW nameplate capacity.
Development Status
The project construction is expected to commence from 2025. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by 2029.
