Uttarganga Storage, Nepal

Uttarganga Storage is an 828MW hydro power project. It is planned on Uttar Ganga river/basin in Rapti, Nepal. The project is currently in announced stage. It will be developed in single phase. The project construction is likely to commence in 2027 and is expected to enter into commercial operation in 2031.

The project is currently owned by Nepal Electricity Authority.

Uttarganga Storage is a reservoir based project. The hydro reservoir capacity is planned to be 463 million cubic meter. The gross head of the project will be 1,350m. The total number of penstocks, pipes or long channels that carry water down from the hydroelectric reservoir to the turbines inside the actual power station, is expected to be 4 in number. The penstock length will be 1,875m. The penstock diameter will be 5.2m. The project is expected to generate 1,299 GWh of electricity. The project cost is expected to be around $1,134.029m.

Development Status

The project construction is expected to commence from 2027. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by 2031.
