Description

The project was developed by Orsted. Orsted, Pensionskassernes Administration and PFA Pension Forsikringsaktieselskab are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 50%, 25% and 25% respectively.

The wind turbines in the Walney Extension Phase I are installed on fixed foundations. An array of monopile foundations feature in the phase.

The wind turbines in the Walney Extension Phase II are installed on fixed foundations. An array of monopile foundations feature in the phase.

The project supplies enough clean energy to power 600,000 households.

The turbines installed on the Walney Extension (Walney Extension Phase I), are using Tubular Steel towers.

Contractors involved

Orsted was selected to render engineering procurement construction services for the wind power project.

Walney Extension (Walney Extension Phase I) is equipped with Vestas Offshore Wind V164-8.0 MW Offshore turbines. The phase consists of 40 turbines with 8.25MW nameplate capacity.

Walney Extension (Walney Extension Phase II) is equipped with Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SWT-7.0-154 turbines. The phase consists of 47 turbines with 7MW nameplate capacity.

Orsted and Vestas Offshore Wind have provided O&M services for the project.
