Wolf Creek 1 is a 1,285MW nuclear reactor which is located within the premises of Wolf Creek Nuclear Power Plant. It is located in Kansas, the US. The nuclear reactor is currently generating power and is in active status. The construction on the reactor commenced in May, 1977. The first power from the reactor was achieved in Jun, 1985. Subsequent to trial runs the reactor finally entered into commercial operation in Sep, 1985.

Wolf Creek 1 is a Generation II nuclear reactor developed by Fluor and Westinghouse Electric, are the main contractors for the project.
The 1,285MW reactor is operated by Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating. Evergy Metro, Westar Energy and Kansas Electric Power Cooperative are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 47%, 47% and 6% respectively.
The PWR reactor generates 9,247.73GWh/annum of electricity. It features 193 fuel assemblies in the core of reactor, the place where fission occurs and energy is released. Safety contol rods that are used to control the fission rate in the reactor are 28 in number. The project cost is $3,000m.
The reactor construction commenced in May, 1977 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in Sep, 1985.
GE Power was selected as the steam turbine supplier for the nuclear reactor. The company provided 1 steam turbine for the project. Bechtel and Sargent & Lundy were selected as the architect engineers for the reactor. The reactor system was supplied by Westinghouse Electric. The reactor vessel has been supplied by Combustion Engineering. The material used for the construction of the vessel is Alloyed Steel (SA 533). The civil works were carried out by Fluor.
