Xingo is a 3,162MW hydro power project. It is located on Sao Francisco river/basin in Sergipe, Brazil. The project is currently active. It has been developed in single phase. The project construction commenced in 1987 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in 1994.

The project was developed by Companhia Brasileira de Projetos e Obras and is currently owned by Companhia Hidro Eletrica do Sao Francisco with a stake of 100%.

Xingo is a reservoir based project. The net head of the project is 111.7m.

Development Status

The project construction commenced in 1987 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in 1994.

Contractors Involved

Voith Hydro Holding was selected as the turbine supplier for the hydro power project. The company provided 6 units of francis turbines, each with 535MW nameplate capacity.

Voith Hydro Holding supplied 6 electric generators for the project. The generator capacity is 555 MVA.
