It is a steam turbine power plant. The power plant run on dual-fuel. The primary fuel being used to power the plant is coal. In case of shortage of coal the plant can also run on Light Diesel Oil,Heavy Fuel Oil. The fuel is procured from Deocha-Pachmi block, Birbhum coalfield, Singareni Collieries Company Ltd.
