Zangmu is a 510MW hydro power project. It is located on Yarlung Tsampo/ Yarlung Zangbo river/basin in Tibet Autonomous Region, China. The project is currently active. It has been developed in single phase. The project construction commenced in 2010 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in 2014.

Description
The project was developed by China Gezhouba Group and is currently owned by Huaneng Tibet Power Generation.
Zangmu is a run-of-river project. The hydro reservoir capacity is 86.6 million cubic meter. The net head of the project is 53.5m. The project generated 2,500 GWh of electricity. The project cost is $1,500m.

Contractors Involved
Rainpower Hangzhou was selected as the turbine supplier for the hydro power project. The company provided 6 units of francis turbines, each with 85MW nameplate capacity.
