Energy firm AES has agreed to supply 650MW of solar power to Meta’s data centres located in Texas and Kansas.

The two long-term power purchase agreements (PPA) aim to provide reliable and affordable renewable energy, aligning with Meta’s sustainability goals and supporting its data centre expansion.

AES president and CEO Andrés Gluski stated: “By providing energy solutions that offer fast time-to-power and low-cost electricity, we continue to be the partner of choice for companies, like Meta, at the forefront of artificial intelligence innovation.”

The solar projects will generate employment opportunities and economic benefits for communities in Texas and Kansas, and contribute millions in long-term tax revenue for local schools and counties.

Meta global head of energy Urvi Parekh expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration: “We are thrilled to work with AES to bring forward these two solar energy projects. These solutions support our goal for 100% clean and renewable energy and will add new generation to the grid in these markets.”

In early 2025, Meta agreed to purchase power from Enel’s 115MW wind farm in Oklahoma.
