Cadeler, operating via its offshore wind service platform Nexra, and Vattenfall Vindkraft have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to develop new operations and maintenance (O&M) solutions for the offshore wind sector.
The agreement aims to explore ways to enhance major component exchange (MCE) capabilities.

The companies will combine their operational experience and service approaches to address the changing requirements of offshore wind asset owners and operators.
The partnership intends to focus on methodologies that could allow for efficient and scalable maintenance procedures, potentially supporting improved long-term performance and reliability of offshore wind turbines.
According to the companies, the growing numbers and maturity of installed offshore wind turbines are increasing the need for advanced maintenance strategies and specialised MCE services.
Under the MoU, the two companies will collaborate on initiatives designed to boost the efficiency, safety and adaptability of offshore wind maintenance tasks across various turbine platforms.
The joint effort seeks to identify maintenance concepts and solutions that could enable more predictable and effective management of offshore wind assets.
Vattenfall offshore wind generation head Pavlo Malyshenko said: “The long-term competitiveness of offshore wind will depend not only on how we build projects but also on how effectively and efficiently we operate and maintain them over decades.
“Through this collaboration, we want to explore smarter approaches that support safe and reliable operations, improve long-term asset performance and reduce life cycle costs, helping to keep offshore wind an affordable source of fossil-free electricity.”
Nexra will play a central role in the partnership.
Cadeler chief growth officer Jacob Christian Gregersen said: “This collaboration gives us an opportunity to combine complementary expertise and explore new approaches to Main Component Exchange, helping shape more efficient and scalable O&M solutions for the assets of tomorrow.”
Both companies are expected to assess a range of maintenance solutions and their potential application in various offshore wind environments, according to the terms set out in the MoU.
Last month, Cadeler acquired Menck, a German company specialising in offshore foundation installation technology and equipment, for $578.1m (€501m).
