Consumers Energy, a subsidiary of CMS Energy, has started operations at its 150MW Gratiot Farms Wind Project in Michigan, US.
Consumers Energy enterprise project management, engineering and services vice-president Dennis Dobbs said: “We are excited to have completed construction and bring Gratiot Farms online to serve customers. Each kilowatt we generate from renewable sources such as the wind gets us closer to our Clean Energy Plan goal of a net-zero carbon energy future.

Equipped with 60 wind turbines, Gratiot Farms was originally developed by Enel Green Power America. In September 2019, Consumers Energy bought the wind farm, taking ownership and responsibility for completing construction. The $260m wind farm began operation in December 2020.
A team of ten full-time employees will operate the wind facility from a newly established service centre in Middleton, Michigan. The company expects to complete this by late February.
Gratiot Farms Wind Project will generate energy for 58,000 residents. The project will join Consumers Energy’s portfolio, which includes Lake Winds Energy Park in Mason County and Cross Winds Energy Park in Tuscola County.
