DayOne Data Centers has entered a corporate renewable energy supply scheme (CRESS) agreement with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) to secure up to 500MW of renewable energy over 21 years for the company’s operations in Malaysia.
DayOne is the first company to sign a bilateral energy supply contract (BESC) under Malaysia’s national CRESS framework.

Malaysia’s Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA) introduced CRESS to facilitate direct access for medium and high-voltage corporate consumers to clean energy via TNB’s grid system.
It is part of the nation’s strategy to develop a more sustainable energy landscape by simplifying clean energy purchasing processes for businesses.
Renewable electricity will be sourced from new solar facilities developed by TNB Renewables, TNB’s fully owned subsidiary.

DayOne currently operates two hyperscale campuses within Malaysia’s Nusajaya Tech Park and Kempas Tech Park.
The company aims to implement renewable energy throughout its operations and minimise Scope 1 and 2 emissions [from sources it owns or controls, and those which are a consequence of its activities but occur from sources not owned or controlled by it] while also assisting its customers in decarbonising their digital infrastructure.

In October 2024, DayOne signed its fourth electricity supply agreement (ESA) with TNB alongside a memorandum of understanding (MoU) under the Green Lane Pathway initiative and One-Stop Center (OSC) for data centres.
In May 2025, ACWA Power signed an MoU and strategic partnership agreements with prominent Malaysian entities, including TNB, for investments totalling up to $10bn.
