Ireland-based DP Energy has selected Vestas and Downer as preferred suppliers to develop Stage I of its Port Augusta Renewable Energy Park in Australia.
As part of the arrangement, Vestas will supply wind turbines and control systems and Downer will provide solar energy components.

Once completed, the energy park will be able to generate 375MW of energy, which will include 220MW wind and 150MW solar capacity.
Stage II will feature around 300MW solar capacity 400MW battery storage capacity.
To be developed with an investment of around $600m, the energy park is estimated to produce 1,000GWh of electricity annually, which will be enough to power 200,000 South Australian households every year.

Construction of the park is expected to begin by Q2 2018. It is expected to create 250 jobs during construction and 600 positions during the peak development phase.
