Eclipse utilises its Flowstream software to optimise battery energy storage for both its own and third-party assets in real time. The company manages a project pipeline in France and Belgium with a collective capacity of 850MW.

The partnership with BNP Paribas is expected to provide asset owners with customised financing options for BESS projects, along with hedging tools to mitigate merchant risk and lower the asset-level capital cost.

Together, Eclipse and BNP Paribas plan to offer long-term offtake solutions, combining BNP Paribas’ financial structuring capabilities with Eclipse’s expertise in optimisation and continuous trading.

This joint effort is designed to support the scaling and financing of battery storage initiatives.

BNP Paribas Group deputy COO Olivier Osty said: “This innovative partnership between BNP Paribas and Eclipse reflects our shared commitment to building a more resilient energy infrastructure for Europe.

“By combining Eclipse’s expertise in industrial-scale battery storage with BNP Paribas’ financial and structuring capabilities, we are developing solutions that enhance market flexibility, efficiency and sustainability, helping utilities, IPPs [independent power producers], and corporates navigate the transition while contributing to the EU’s broader objectives of energy resilience and strategic autonomy.”

BNP Paribas will leverage two decades of experience in the European physical and financial power markets for the partnership.

European power markets present considerable investment opportunities in renewable generation and energy storage infrastructure. The collaboration between Eclipse and BNP Paribas is positioned to facilitate these investments, promoting energy security and stability across the market for both producers and consumers.
