The demonstration site includes floaters that harness the motion of ocean waves to generate clean electricity.

This project supports the demonstration of the viability of wave energy and its potential to contribute to reliable and sustainable power generation.

Eco Wave Power founder and CEO Inna Braverman said: “I’m excited to announce that our next projects are already being prepared in Taiwan, India, and Portugal.

“Wave energy has enormous potential – it is predictable, reliable, and available right here on our coastlines. With projects like this, we are proving that wave energy is not just the future – it is here, now.”

The timing of the launch is significant for California, as it aligns with the state’s climate policies.

Senate Bill 605, which calls for a comprehensive wave energy roadmap, underscores the state’s commitment to exploring and investing in alternative energy sources.

Additionally, federal support for marine energy is on the rise, with Congresswoman Nanette Díaz Barragán introducing the Marine Energy Technologies Acceleration Act, a $1bn initiative aimed at expanding marine energy nationwide.

Barragán said: “Eco Wave Power made history by deploying its innovative wave energy technology into US waters for the very first time. This milestone shows incredible potential for wave energy to power our communities with clean, renewable electricity, while creating jobs and protecting our environment.”

This February, Eco Wave Power signed a memorandum of understanding with Bharat Petroleum to harness India’s wave energy potential, estimated at 40,000MW.
