NextEra Energy Resources and Entergy Arkansas have commissioned the Stuttgart Solar Energy Centre in Arkansas, US.
Spread over 475 acres of land, the facility features more than 350,000 photovoltaic solar panels that convert the sun’s energy into electricity.

The new solar energy centre is capable of generating 81MW of power, enough to meet the electricity needs of more than 13,000 homes.
The facility was built by a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Resources, which will also own and operate it. Energy generated from the facility will be supplied to Entergy Arkansas customers under a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA).
NextEra Energy Resources president and CEO Armando Pimentel said: “We are pleased to work with our partners at Entergy to bring the largest solar energy centre in Arkansas online.
“This solar energy project will provide millions of dollars in additional tax revenue to Arkansas County and will generate cost-effective, home-grown solar energy for Entergy customers for years to come.”

By GlobalDataDuring its operational life, the Stuttgart Solar Energy Centre is expected to generate nearly $8m in additional revenue for Arkansas County.
Entergy Arkansas president and CEO Rick Riley said: “Over our 105 years in business, Entergy Arkansas has generated power with sawdust, water, coal, oil, natural gas, nuclear, and now the sun.
“Through this investment with NextEra Energy Resources, we are further diversifying our power generation resource mix and providing Entergy Arkansas customers with access to additional clean, renewable and affordable energy.”
