Numurkah solar farm will be capable of generating nearly 255,000MWh of clean, renewable electricity into the national power grid on an annual basis.

It is one of two solar farms that will be supplying 100% renewable energy to offset the entire tram network in Melbourne.

The original project size was 34MW, which increased to 128MW following a 15-year deal with SIMEC ZEN. The deal secured by Neoen is to power the Laverton Steelworks.

Neoen Australia managing director Louis de Sambucy said: “The Numurkah Solar Farm is a significant milestone for Neoen, one that could not have been achieved without the support of the Victorian Government.
