Global technology specialist ABB has secured a deal from Fotowatio Renewable Ventures (FRV) to provide central inverter solutions for two new photovoltaic (PV) solar plants in Jordan.
Both the Mafraq I and Mafraq II plants will produce a combined output of 102MW. They are scheduled to be operational by next year.
Under the deal, ABB will deliver 62 pieces of 2Mva outdoor type central inverters and 30 units of 4Mva medium-voltage step-up stations for the proposed plants.
Two 2Mva medium-voltage step-up stations will also be provided. These use ABB’s outdoor type oil transformers and 36kV safering-type ring main units equipped with an outdoor enclosure.
In addition, ABB will commission the central inverter solutions following delivery.
ABB Middle East solar inverters sales head Anshuman T said: “We believe strongly in the potential of solar energy in this territory and are committed to further developing our capabilities to support our customers during the whole lifetime of their projects.”
