Global developer of tidal power projects Atlantis Resources has announced that all four turbine support structures (TSS) have been installed at MeyGen project in the Pentland Firth, Scotland.

The TSS were installed using the Neptune jack up vessel owned by Geosea, which has been demobilised from the project site.

Atlantis claims that the installations were a success and validates the use of jack up vessels for the purpose of installing tidal turbine foundations offshore in high-flow locations.

The use of a jack-up rig provided a flexible and fast installation solution and the MayGen project is on track to have all turbines linked to the grid in time for first power delivery by the end of the year.

The MeyGen project is 85% owned by Atlantis and when the renewable energy plant is built, it will have around 400MW capacity powered by the tide.
