Indian power manufacturer Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) has turned an 800MW supercritical boiler operational at a thermal power plant in Andhra Pradesh, a state in India.
The commissioning is the second at the Sri Damodaram Sanjeevaiah thermal power plant (SDSTPP), which is located at Krishnapatnam in the south Indian state. Commissioning for the first 800MW boiler at the same facility was carried out in August last year.

Andhra Pradesh Power Development Company (APPDCL), a 50-50 joint venture entity formed by APGENCO and IL AND FS, is the developer for the project.
BHEL was responsible for manufacturing, supplying, erecting, testing, and commissioning of the boilers and associated auxiliaries, including electrostatic precipitators (ESPs).
Key equipment for the project was manufactured by the Indian firm at its facilities in Trichy, Hyderabad, Ranipet and Bengaluru.
BHEL’s Power Sector for the southern region was responsible for the construction of the project.
