Germany-based E.ON has purchased a stake in b.ventus, a start-up that manufactures small wind turbines for business customers.

The investment has been made through E.ON’s innovation hub :agile, which supports energy-related start-ups.

The deal was completed though E.ON’s regional energy supply companies Avacon and E.DIS. E.ON Kundenservice Netz. Fallersleber Elektrizitäts-Aktiengesellschaft (FEAG) and Leitner Group also have shares in the startup.

E.DIS CEO Alexander Montebaur said: “We chose b. ventus as a partner because the company has developed a promising, innovative business idea that we want to ramp up.

“b.ventus’ wind turbine is designed to enable business customers to produce their own power quickly and easily.”

“This also gives us the opportunity to work closely with other E.ON companies, a renowned medium-sized enterprise and one of our regional partners.”

b.ventus’ wind turbine is designed to enable business customers to produce their own power quickly and easily. Featuring a height of around 30m, the turbine can be integrated with a customer’s existing power generation facilities including a cogeneration unit or solar array.
