US-based First Solar has secured a contract from RCR Tomlinson to provide 241MW of solar modules for Edify Energy’s Daydream and Hayman projects in Queensland, Australia.
First Solar will also provide engineering, procurement, and construction services for the projects.

The company will deliver more than 2,026,565 of its Series 4 thin-film photovoltaic (PV) modules, which are expected to be compatible with the hot and humid environmental conditions of the Whitsunday region.
Construction of the solarfarms is scheduled to start in Q3 of this year, while the modules are set to be delivered by Q1, 2018.
Edify Energy chief executive John Cole said: “First Solar’s unique energy yield advantage enables our solar projects in North Queensland to produce more energy per MW installed than other available PV technology.
“This is of significant importance for asset owners and operators looking to maximise energy production.”

By GlobalDataBoth the Daydream and Hayman farms will use a technology solution that features single axis tracking technology from Array Technologies. They will be developed to produce around 531,000MWh of sustainable energy annually.
Following completion, the farms will be able to reduce 429,000t of carbon dioxide emissions per year. Generated energy will also be able to supply around 73,000 homes.
