BHI, a licensee of Foster Wheeler’s Global Power Group, has received a contract from the Korean construction firm Samsung C&T to design and supply six heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs) for the 2,100MW Rabigh II combined-cycle power plant (CCPP) in Saudi Arabia.

Under the contract, BHI will design six HRSGs, which will be coupled to six SGT6-5000F Siemens gas turbines firing natural gas and oil with commercial operations of the units due to commence in 2017.

BHI will also provide pulverized coal (PC) boilers, circulating fluidised bed (CFB) boilers and oil and gas boilers for the project.

BHI president Woo Jong-Ihn said, "Based on the combination of Foster Wheeler technology and BHI design and production capabilities, BHI intends to continue its marketing activities in the combined cycle power plant market throughout the world."

The Rabigh II IPP combined-cycle power plant is located in western Saudi Arabia on the Red Sea, around 150km north of the port city of Jeddah.

Foster Wheeler Global Power Group executive vice-president David Parham said that Foster Wheeler HRSG have been designed to meet the performance, reliability and cost goals of customers.
