GFG Alliance is set to build a new 178MW windfarm in Scotland with an investment of £170m.
To be situated at Glenshero in the Scottish Highlands, the farm will be developed by GFG member SIMEC Energy. When completed, the facility will be equipped with 54 turbines.

GFG noted that steel required for the wind turbines could be provided by GFG member Liberty House Group at its Dalzell plant in Motherwell, Scotland.
When completed, the renewable energy project is expected to contribute to a low-cost, low-carbon power scenario for industrial schemes, including the GFG Alliance’s aluminium smelter, a proposed Fort William alloy wheels factory, and a steel mill in Lanarkshire, Scotland.
GFG Alliance chief investment officer and SIMEC Energy chief executive Jay Hambro said: “Glenshero is a unique project in our portfolio.
“It would be built in an environment of zero subsidies, using steel rolled and finished in Scotland and then generate clean energy to support the Scottish metals industry.
