Iberdrola has selected Current for the deployment of solutions supporting the smart grid project to be installed in Spain.
Current, a provider of utility grid infrastructure and software solutions, will provide advanced metering, transformer supervision and network communications services.
The work is part of an expansion programme for Iberdrola’s STAR Project, the Network Remote Management and Automation Systems, which was launched in 2010 in Castellón, Spain.
Current’s product portfolio includes prime-based Intelligent Data Concentrators for advanced metering and transformer station supervision, as well as managed network communications gateways.
Iberdrola director Miguel A Sánchez Fornié said that Current is a key strategic supplier to Iberdrola, and hopes it will continue to play a critical role in the company’s large-scale roll-out of advanced metering and grid automation systems in Spain.
"Current’s innovative solutions and dedication to our vision give us great confidence on the reality of interoperability as a basis for optimizing our investment as we significantly expand the deployment of our STAR project," said Fornié.
