National Solar Power (NSP) has unveiled plans to construct a $1.5bn solar farm in south-east Florida, US.

Hensel Phelps Construction will build the 400MW plant on 4,000 acres over the course of a five-year construction phase.

The first phase of the project is expected to be complete within six months time, once the project receives local and state permission.

Currently, NSP is in negotiations with several financial institutions to secure finance for the project.

The solar farm will be capable of providing enough renewable energy to power approximately 32,000 households.
