Origin Energy has secured a long-term power supply contract from Acciona for its 46.5MW Gunning wind farm in Australia.

The facility is equipped with 31 units of Acciona’s 1.5MW turbines and is expected to generate 140-150GW of power each year.

Under the terms of the agreement, Origin will receive Large-scale Generation Certificates (LGCs) starting on 1 January 2012 for two years, then both green power and LGCs for 8 years, with an option to extend further.

Frank Calabria, Origin CEO, said the agreement with Acciona will contribute towards Origin meeting its obligations under the federal government’s large-scale renewable energy target.
