Siemens is to build a manufacturing facility for onshore wind turbine rotor blades in Morocco.
Construction of the new facility is expected to start in spring 2016 and operations will commence in spring 2017.

This new factory, once operational, will create 700 employment opportunities and also will help Siemens in strengthening its position in the country.
Siemens wind power and renewables division CEO Markus Tacke said: "Morocco is the perfect location from which to serve the growing onshore windpower markets in Africa, the Middle East and Europe.
"The economy is strong, the political climate is stable, and Morocco has a young, skilled and motivated workforce.
"These factors make Tangier the ideal site for this new state-of-the-art factory."

By GlobalDataThe Moroccan Government initially intended to tap renewable sources to meet its 42% energy requirement by 2020, with 20% expected to come from windfarms.
Later, this target has been revised by King Mohammed VI at the COP 21 meeting in Paris and has been pushed to 52% by 2030.
The new factory will cover an area of 37,500m², and will be located in Tanger Automotive City, 35km from Tanger Med port, which is centrally situated between Europe and Africa, so is highly suitable for exports to markets in Africa, Europe, and the Middle East.
Siemens has implemented several renewable energy projects in Morocco, including the 300MW Tarfaya development.
