UK-based wastewater utility solutions provider Lanes Group has secured a three-year contract with beverage manufacturer Bevisol to transport drinks production effluent to an anaerobic digestion plant.

Cider production at the Bebistol's plant in Herefordshire produces 150m3 of waste water, collected by tankers daily.

Bevisol's project manager Tim Powell said: “Lanes is doing a fantastic job for us. Their service is very efficient and high-quality.”

Bevisol also entered into an agreement with UK-based water industry company Severn Trent Water to send production waste to its anaerobic digestion unit at Netheridge sewage treatment works near Gloucester, England. Having developed a method for blending effluent, Bevisol ensures it has the correct chemical and biological balance to be treated at Severn Trent Water's other anaerobic digestion plants, if required.

Tim Powell added: “Because we can guarantee that our effluent has the right pre-treatment balance for whichever plant it is going to, Severn Trent Water's costs are minimised, so our disposal fees are reduced as well.

“Lanes Group's tankering service is the third element in a supply chain that has benefits for all concerned, which is an ideal situation.”
