Danish power equipment manufacturer Vestas has secured a contract from an undisclosed customer to deliver wind turbines for a 200MW project in the US.

Terms of the contract have not been disclosed.

As part of the deal, the company will supply and commission two 100 V110-2.0 MW turbines at the project.

The company has also entered into a five-year customised active output management service agreement for the project.

Last December, EDF Renewable Energy awarded a wind turbine supply order to Vestas, totalling 201MW.

Financial details and the name of the project have not been disclosed.

Under the deal, Vestas will supply a total of 81 turbines for the US project, of which 51 will be from its V100-2.0 MW models, with the rest being V117-3.3 MW turbines.

In the same month, Vestas acquired US-based independent service provider UpWind Solutions and its subsidiaries, for approximately $60m.

Based in San Diego, UpWind currently provides services totalling 3GW to wind power facilities in nine US states.
