China Three Gorges Corporation has signed a joint cooperation agreement with Voith Group in the presence of Chinese President Xi Jinping and German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
The agreement was signed by China Three Gorges Corporation's chairman Lu Chun and Voith Group's president and chief executive officer (CEO) Dr. Hubert Lienhard.
The deal includes delivery of two 350MW units to the Zhejiang Changlongshan pumped storage power station.
Voith claimed that the delivery will indicate its competence in equipping large pumped storage plants.
Changlongshan power station is located in Zhejiang Province’s Anji County between the cities of Tianhuangping and Shanchuan.
With a capacity of 2,100MW, this plant has one of the largest capacities among pumped storage plants in China. In addition, with a 710m high head, it is the tallest power station in China and second highest in the world.

Voith has been executing hydropower projects since the 1940s and by June this year, it has installed about 10,000MW of capacity in Africa and has already made significant contributions towards the continent’s development.
CTG forayed into Africa 50 years ago and now has more than 300 completed or ongoing projects covering around 30 countries and districts.
