Power plant solutions provider Wärtsilä has secured contracts worth €60m to expand two existing power plants located in Senegal, West Africa.

The work will be delivered for Senegalese utility Senelec.

The Bel Air power plant and the Kahone plant facilities are currently powered by 18-cylinder Wärtsilä 46 engines and maintained by Wärtsilä, under a 15 year agreement.

Under the expansion project, Wärtsilä will provide two additional 18 cylinder Wärtsilä 46 engines to each site, which will increase output by 34MW to reach a total of 102MW on each site.
