Westinghouse Electric Company has received a contract from Vattenfall Nuclear Fuel to supply replacement nuclear fuel deliveries and related engineering services for the three reactors, Forsmark 3, Ringhals 3 and 4 in Sweden.
Westinghouse said the contract includes yearly deliveries of fuel for the three reactors during 2016-2019.

Pursuant to contract terms, executed between Westinghouse Electric Sweden and Vattenfall Nuclear Fuel, the fuel will be produced at Westinghouse’s facility in Västerås, Sweden.
Since 1973, Westinghouse has delivered nearly 12,000 fuel assemblies to the Forsmark and Ringhals nuclear power plants in Sweden.
Westinghouse vice-president and Northern Europe managing director Johan Hallén said this contract reflects Vattenfall Nuclear Fuel’s continued confidence in Westinghouse as a high-quality supplier.
Hallén said, "The market for nuclear fuel assemblies is very competitive with suppliers from Germany, the US, Korea, Japan and Spain providing finished fuel to similar reactors.

Forsmark 3 is operated by Vattenfall. The unit comprises a boiling water reactor (BWR) designed and constructed by ASEA-ATOM, which was acquired by Westinghouse in 2000.
The Ringhals 3 and 4 nuclear units consist of pressurized water reactors (PWR), which are designed and constructed by Westinghouse.
Presently, Westinghouse is fuelling 145 PWR and BWR plants. The company has ten nuclear fuel manufacturing locations around the world, including two sites in Europe: Springfields Fuels Limited in Preston, UK, and Westinghouse Electric Sweden in Västerås.
Westinghouse is a single-source nuclear fuel supplier for PWRs, BWRs and advanced gas-cooled reactors around the world.
