Wärtsilä has secured a deal to provide engineering and equipment for two base load power plants in Iran.

These proposed plants will be operated by Iranian energy companies Baran Niroo Beshel and Tamin Niroo Saam.

Wärtsilä will supply the Baran Niroo Beshel plant with three 34SG engines, which will have a combined output of 29MW. The Tamin Niroo Saam plant will receive two Wärtsilä 34SG engines with a total output of 19MW.

Once completed, the plants will be able to jointly serve around 100,000 households. Deliveries of the Wärtsilä gensets are expected to take place during Q3, 2017.

"Using gas as fuel will have an important impact towards the preservation of our environment."

Tamin Niroo Saam general manager Semih Uysal said: “Wärtsilä’s technology and capability to deliver efficient and flexible power solutions, as well as its reputation for quality were definitely the main reasons why we signed this agreement.

“In addition, using gas as fuel will have an important impact towards the preservation of our environment.”
